logging into the game client and hearing the familiar sounds of the game, howl felt at home with his headphones on in the dark room lit only by the computer. he clicked onto the other desktop screen and opened skype, calling calcifer. despite being under the same roof, the two boys had their setups in different rooms and had to communicate through skype and instant messengers when gaming, or they would shout through the apartment to each other. he clicked back to the game and lowered the microphone on his headset. once the ringing of the waiting call stopped, howl turned his attention to the mountain dew he had poured since his friend requested a few more minutes to prepare. while he waited, he dumped important gear off in their camp and went out to find some people to troll. the two were well known on the server, as well as a few others, for tormenting other players. at the end of the day, most everyone had a good time and they always returned what other people had dropped when they died or helped rebuild things; but not everyone could take the joke. a lot of people didn't like the two and their group, and often got upset when they were online. upon seeing the phrase "silent howl has joined the game" in the chatbox, there were several responses of concern that made the young man snicker. after a few minutes of terrorizing some new spawns, howl was delighted to see a new log in immediately followed by the inevitable phrases of worry from the rest of the players. the ringing of his skype caused him to jump, but he clicked to his other screen and answered the incoming call. "ready to own some innocent players? or are we gonna hunt down that youtube idiot today?" he had heard some popular youtuber was playing on the server they used and the two had talked about searching out his town; they thought it would be awesome to live stream it and show their world that they could level a town. he reached over to his bag of cheetos and opened it, waiting for calcifer's gamertag to pop up when he logged into the server.
