That is not to say that she has two personalities but that her single persona often collides. She is a young woman of strength and independence, who cares nothing for the opinions or worries of her surrounding peers. She does not allow them to affect the true nature of herself. She lives by her own rules and follows the laws of her own desires. She never does anything that she doesn’t believe in and she always speaks her mind, especially concerning matters she perceives as important. She is a figure who is both loyal and honest, never taking advantage of personal relationships. However, Harley does have a dark side to her personality, the opposite side of the coin. She can be an assertive figure, who is both unpredictable and sometimes insensitive to the likes of other. She offers words that can seem blunt and judgmental, though they are meant to express and honest opinion. She is also damaged, living in the depths of her pasting, though she often hides it, she is vulnerable and scared that something is going to wrong in her life, or that she is going to mess up the best opportunities available to her. It is a personality that takes patience to understand, and even more so to balance. HISTORY There has never been anything spectacular concerning the life of Harley Belmonte, but it has certainly never been normal. She was born into a unique family, made up of a mother consumed in the art of design, and father obsessed with the intense nature of the biker lifestyle. In addition, she was the youngest member of the family, caught in the shadow of her older brother Davis, who even at a young age never seemed to enjoy the company of his little sister, though honestly, Harley was never fond of him either. It created the first of many relationships in her life that would simply never work out.The family lived outside of Asheville for another two years, living a considerably average lifestyle until the day a close family friend passed away, giving the rights to his popular motorcycle business to Harley’s father; he gladly accepted the gift, seeing it as an opportunity to further his interests. He moved the family to the hometown of the operation, the bustling city of Arcadia, Nevada. The change was hard on the family, as they were not accustomed to the culture, or lifestyle of their new home, especially the circumstances of the criminal bound environment of the city, it was worse than they previously envisioned. However, the lingering dangers of the city stayed far away from the realm of their existence, something Harley’s parents always treasured. Harley lived blissfully in the domains of her new home for several years, unaware of the unfolding events taking place on miles for her location. She was six years old when the bitter reality struck her, forcing her to experience a rough awakening, a matter beyond the experiences she possessed in her brief existence. She was starting school at the time, just entering the first grade and though the likes of which should have been pleasant the reality was considerably much worse. She was different from most children as she already expressed a sense of self that included an independent nature and rough personality. It was something that the older children could never accept and therefore would never accept Harley. Instead, they teased her, a reaction that was possibly due to their lack of understanding but in the moment, reasons did not matter in Harley’s mind, when all she could feel was pain and rejection. The experience should have ended as the children aged and their understanding expanded but instead it remained, lasting well into the final year of elementary school. It was then that Harley realized that acceptance among her peers was an action that would never happen, and though it hurt to reach such a conclusion, she knew that focusing on the matter would on make the situation worse. She turned her attention to other subjects of interests, the first being a true discovery of music. A matter that eventually consumed her and over time became a security blanket, the only that she could turn to when her world shattered into pieces. The next subject of her interest came several years later, when she was already into her final year of junior high. She came across her father’s old leather jacket one after in the hall closet, an article of clothing that he replaced years before. Harley never truly noticed it then, but in the moment, she was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. She stole that day, deciding that would be a nice addition to her wardrobe despite the fact that it was worn and several sizes too big. The discoveries, along with the changes she experienced growing up, made her into unrecognizable figure when she entered high school. She still carried herself in the same manner and held onto the independence personality, but she no longer cared about the opinions of her peers. They tried to treat her in the same they had in the past, but this time she often failed to react in the manner they were so desperately looking forward too. Instead, she would simple make a sarcastic comments or even go as far as to express her opinions in manners that were not suitable to the school environment. It would be an understatement to admit that a few situations went too far. Situations that started out as nothing more than verbal remarks, often ended in violent collision, many of which Harleys won. She was even suspended for her actions on several occasions, though teachers always failed to realized that she was the victim. In time, Harley grew tired of the drama-filled environment, proclaiming that she would learn more from the world than a stuffy classroom. Her parents let her drop out, understanding the situation, but offering a single condition to the matter; she would have to find a job. She did as her parents asked and found a job at a local clothing warehouse downtown that offered the best assortment of biker clothing and jackets. It was like heaven on earth in the moment, though the job was less than satisfying. Still, she has been with the company for a few years now, working to create new path for her life. She has never had a single worthy relationship, and certainly not one that lasted beyond a year. It seemed as if the men in her life all had a set period for staying committed to the relationship, and that once the year had ended they were gone, without word or reason. Harley never understood why, though she often assumed that her personality and dominant nature pushed them away. She could never be sure though, and there was no way to learn the truth. Her last relationship ended well over a year ago, and since that time, she swore that she was going to take a break from the drama of relationships and dating. There were other matters to worry about, and finding acceptance in a companion was not one of them, it could sit at the bottom of the list for all she cared. That was until, one afternoon in the middle of a rainstorm, a young man wandered into the shop simply looking for a jacket. The shop was out of stock, at least according to his size and style preferences, but Harley has something else to offer – friendship, and yet something more. Harley has never believed in love at first sight but cannot deny that she felt drawn to the man from the moment she met his eyes, and from every moment since. There was a connecting lingering between them, and though friendship was the first step, the pair quickly grew closer, slowly building into a stronger relationship in a short time. They have since crossed over the realm of friendship and found themselves testing the waters of a possible relationship. |
