The days had been long for Phoenix and he hadn’t been able to spend much time with his girlfriend. That was something he regretted because he knew it upset her that he never had the time to do anything but work lately. Especially since she didn’t really like him being a drug dealer. She never said it but he could tell she didn’t like him being another corrupt piece of Arcadia. Because of those things he decided it was time to pay it back to her for being so patient and understanding. On his way home from the tattoo parlor from a half day he sent her a text.
“Hey baby. I’m off work early and don’t have any plans tonight. Come over?”
He knew she wouldn’t be able to say no. So he started to put his plan in motion. There were just a couple stops he had to make before he got to his apartment.
Cleaning what needed to be done and unpacking the bags he’d gotten from his stops, it was time to get his home ready for her to come over. Candles of her favorite scent, a couple bouquets of roses, a bag of Smarties were his purchases. One bouquet was put in a vase and set on the table and the bag of candy was opened and the rolls of candy were spilled out around it. The candles were placed in various places around the apartment and he hoped there were enough that he could turn out the lights and she’d still be able to see. The other bouquet of roses was separated with a single one put to the side while the others had their petals pulled off the stems. Phoenix scattered the petals around and on the table, setting two of the candles on either side of the vase. The candles were lit and the lights were shut off. He took a step back to examine everything. It had to be perfect. She deserved perfect.
Everything was done and all he had to do now was wait. He eyed everything again and smiled to himself. It looked better in the soft flickering light of the candles and he knew she would love it the second she saw it. Checking the time, he knew she’d be over soon and he walked into his bedroom to change his clothes. He hoped she wouldn’t be long. He was excited to see her and to see what she thought of his surprise.

[presto] tag: sixx with phoenix words: 7 6 8 notes: eeep, pheolex you're a diamond; how i found you i still don't know. but now i've got you and i'll never let you go. if your heart's a pocket looking for some change, my heart makes lots of sense. just stay quiet, breathe deep, breathe out, breathe slow. don't say a word, let our eyes speak. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
[/presto] | the day felt like it couldn't get any longer as alexys knelt on the cushioned seat of the booth, cleaning the table with a wet towel. only a couple tables in the restaurant had people sitting and eating or talking with their companions. she started cleaning of the seats, bending over a bit more, and she yelped as she felt someone smack her bottom. straightening up and resisting the urge to glare at the young man that walked past her and winked that had assaulted her. she huffed and hurriedly finished cleaning off the booth before taking a bin of dirty dishes back to the kitchen. putting the dishes in the sink, she looked at the chef as he was cooking eggs and hashbrowns. "boys are absolutely vile." he chuckled and nodded, but said nothing. alexys often went off on rants about customers and he usually tried to keep from egging her on so she wouldn't get in trouble. she felt her phone vibrate and pulled it out of her pocket, knowing the kitchen was one of the only places she was allowed to use her cell phone unless they were slow. a small smile pulled at her lips when she saw who it was from, and it spread a bit wider when she read the text. she glanced at the clock and sighed; still another hour to go. she texted him back, saying she'd be over in an hour when her shift was up.
sitting at an empty table with a stack of napkins and a bin of clean silverware, she was wrapping them to be placed at the empty tables for new customers. a couple of the other waiters and waitresses were walking around, serving their tables or just chatting with patrons. she hummed quietly to the music playing over the speakers while she did her work in the pattern her hands knew too well. she jumped slightly as the manager's voice broke into her concentration, telling her she could go home when she was finished with the silverware. that definitely made her hurry along, still making sure she was making the rolls like nice but not trying to kill time like she had been before. she couldn't wait to leave and go see her phoenix.
it had been so long since they had gotten to spend time together. his jobs kept him busy, especially the one she wasn't too fond of. it had surprised her to find out he was a drug dealer, just another brick in the wall of this disgusting town. she wanted out of it, and she wanted him to come with her. neither of them had said it yet, but she did love him. however, she knew he liked what he did. he thought it was exciting and dangerous, and that was what scared her. yet it was all it took to keep her from talking to him about it. she wasn't his mother and she couldn't tell him what to do, and she wasn't going to make him give up something he loved doing... even if it was better for the both of them if he did.
sitting in her ford escape, she sang to the radio while she drove to phoenix's apartment. she could feel the excitement radiating through her. from the moment they had met in a night club over a year ago, she had been infatuated with the man. his touch was electric and he seemed to gorgeous to be real. in fact, she often worried he wasn't and that she would wake up never having met him, finding out he was nothing but a beautiful dream. she pulled into a parking spot by the apartment and walked in, using the key he had given her to get in to his unit. as soon as the door was open, her jaw nearly hit the floor.
was she dreaming? there was no way she was actually seeing this. her vision blurred and she blinked hard, trying to soak in the beautiful vision before happy tears could fully ruin it. "phoenix?" she was trying not to start crying, no one had ever done anything like this for her and she didn't know how to take it. could all of this really be for her? she doubted it, she didn't feel worth all of this. but there it was, the soft golden glow of the candles lighting up the room and putting a focus on the table. she walked in and reached her hand out, fingers touching the soft rose petals of the flowers in the vase. it was real.

He pulled his basketball shorts up over his hips and tossed his dirty shirt into the basket. The front door unlocked and he smiled. He quietly walked out of the bedroom and stood in the hallway looking at her. The light of the candles did her good. The glow touched her soft features and made them softer. She looked like a dream. She looked like she didn't believe what she was seeing and it was cute to watch. He half smiled as he watched her. Finally she called out to him and he stepped out of the hallway. "Do you like it?" He followed her over to the table and watched her touch the flowers. He knew she did and he didn't need her to confirm it. The way her eyes were brimming and the shocked look on her face was all Nix needed to know that he had made her happy. It made him feel a little lighter inside knowing that he had done that for her especially since people didn't usually show this spectacular girl how special and loved she really was.
They had been going out for awhile and he hadn't said the three big words yet. Neither of them had. He felt it but he didn't want to say it. He didn't want to say it and her leave. Right now he was happy too and he didn't want that to change. He didn't want to think about the future but he was defnitely thinking about the present. But it felt the time was growing near . . . Especially since he hadn't said it but they had reached further, more physical parts of the relationship already. That wasn't why he felt it or wanted to say it but it was defintely fuel to the fire of why he felt the time was coming.
He gentely took her by the arms and pulled her into his, seeing she was ready to shed tears at any given second. Alexys was special to him and he wanted her to know that. He never wanted her to forget or doubt it. He knew words were cheap but actions were priceless and hopefully what he had done said the words he couldn't get out. "I'm glad you like it. I hoped you would." He let her go and looked at her with a smile. He couldn't hide that he was proud of himself and he hoped she was proud of him too. He felt ridiculous wanting the praise and acceptance of someone else but she wasn't just any other person. This was his girlfriend and she was someone worth wanting praise and acceptance from.

[presto] tag: sixx with phoenix words: s o m e notes: gdi, sixx, that's adorable <3 you're a diamond; how i found you i still don't know. but now i've got you and i'll never let you go. if your heart's a pocket looking for some change, my heart makes lots of sense. just stay quiet, breathe deep, breathe out, breathe slow. don't say a word, let our eyes speak. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
[/presto] | no one had ever done anything like this for her before and she had no idea how she was supposed to feel about it. sure, she had received flowers before but this was a whole new stretch. she heard his voice and turned to look at him. shirtless and bathed in candle light, he looked like an angel. phoenix knew her so well and he took such good care of her. alexys was certain she didn't deserve such an amazing person in her life. she wanted more than anything to let the three big words slide off her tongue but she was scared. she was scared he didn't feel the same way and that it would scare him away. losing this was really something she didn't want to have happen, it meant too much to her right now. after everything in her past, she finally felt like she had something good she could hold on to and she wasn't going to risk ruining it for anything in the world.
he pulled her into him and she wrapped her arms around his slender body. she refused to let herself cry. it was a happy moment and she wanted to smile and let it be happy. she pulled back a bit and stood on her tiptoes to give him a tender kiss on the lips. "thank you so much, phoenix. it's beautiful. i-" she cut herself off before the words could slip out. she sighed and smiled, "i really love it. thank you." she nuzzled her face into his chest and sighed again before turning her attention back to the table he'd set up. a smile formed on her face and she reached out to the smarties scattered about. she picked one up and held it between her fingers, looking at him questioningly. she knew she had made him upset one time and left an apology card and a roll of sweet tarts on his table, a joke she felt she was making at how she she could be a bittersweet person to be with. "am i reading too much into this or is there a joke in here? are you mocking me, mister ward?" she raised a brow coyly at him. |
