In his early years, around the ages of five through ten, when his personality was really starting to show, he experienced a brief loner phase. He wasn’t shy or quit however, in fact he was just as loud as the average little boy; he just didn’t like social interaction, of any kind. He wouldn’t talk unless directly spoken too and even then his replies were often short and straight to the point. It was a trait that many assumed came from his father; the king of isolation, but in all honesty, it was probably due to the lack of attention he received from the man and the obsessive, perfectionist nature of his mother. He didn’t feel like he mattered and resentment slowly started to build in his heart. Over the next few years, the social aspect of his personality took wing and finally allowed him to break away from the years of isolation; he made friends, attended birthdays and other social outings, and built himself nothing short of a great social outlet from the pressure of his home life. The resentment that was building inside however, eventually broke free at the age of fifteen; he couldn’t handle the pressure or carry the weight anymore, it had become too much, far too much and he needed to escape. He found his outlet in a variety of place; it started with the cursing, which seemed to flow through his veins as if it was supposed to be there. That was followed by disrespect for both him and others, and then tailed by a taste of danger; if there was a risk involved, he took it. All of this brought in the introduction of the real world, filled with alcohol, cigarettes, and more women than he could possibly imagine – and so began the phase that many called the pirate, because he was nothing short of a modern reincarnation. His friends even took to calling him Captain. He had become a different person in such a short time, that the result was never truly processed by those around him; his friends often joined him in his reckless acts and saw nothing of it, his teachers thought it was a coping issue, and everyone else left it to simple teenage behavior. His parents on the other hand, knew nothing of it, as William made up believable lies and backed them up with full-proof alibies. The phase lasted for almost two years before it was shut down on the spot, when he was arrested at seventeen and punished in the eternal pit of hell, or rather his home, on lock in, by his parents. The event had caused a series of chaotic events in the course of such a short time, that everything in his reckless life soon became nonexistent. The events, along with the increased pressure of the strict life caused him to fall into himself. He became depressed, uninterested, and blatantly nothing more than a shell that came out for a short time during the day to complete his studies. He did well in school, getting the good grades he always had, but the rest of his life was a waste – at least for close to a year, in which he graduated and left home. He slowly tried to find himself in his new found environment, in a small apartment that he shared with his closest friend, building back the world his parents stole from him. He found life again in work, possessions, and friend, but the true life saver came in the form of danger; street races to be exact. It brought him out of the ashes, and started a fire in his heart, an event that allowed him to truly discover himself. Today, he has embodied slivers, both good and bad, from all of his personalities, blending them together to create a balance. The scale is not always straight as sometimes he leans towards in one direction more than another – the reckless, pirate side, but the result has given him the chance to live a life filled with his own beliefs, rules, dream and desires; he can have pleasure and success, too. HISTORY ChildhoodWilliam was born to William Sr. and Meredith Donovan on the chill, winter morning of January 2, 1981; the couples anniversary. Having been married for five years at the time of his arrival, William was seen as the greatest gift. The feeling however, was short lived, when his mother set him on a success path at the young age of five in which she began trying to drill her entire way of life into his young mind. This of course includes her strict rules and respected lifestyle; it didn’t take, and how could it, he was far too young to understand the pressure that was now lingering on his shoulders. The pressure to be the best he could before he was even enrolled in school. While the torture, as he later saw it, was taking place, his father sat quietly in his work room creating extravagant art and seeming to pay no attention to the situation; any notice there may have been was ultimately ignored. These small actions, put father and son on a warring path that would last a lifetime, simply because the man refused to take action in stopping the unhealthy course Williams mother had set him on. Despite the situation, William made it his goal, in fourth grade, to learn and succeed to the best of his abilities. The choice, his mother thought, was due to her demanding powers and “guidance” but it was honestly just William; he wanted to please his family, but he also had his own dreams and to reach them, he would have to escape his current situation, and a good education seemed like his only option. In doing so, he took a great interest in literature and the arts, acquiring knowledge that he assumed would allow him the best future. Still, it was going to be a long and rocky road to get there and he wasn’t entirely sure he was prepared. When William was thirteen years old, finishing up seventh grade he realized that the weight on his shoulder was too much to handle. He was working for both the delight of his mother and the success of himself and beyond that, he was hiding he true desires. It was a world of chaos that threw him onto a train set to collide. He was falling apart and he knew he needed to do something. It was then that he first attempted to talk to his mother about his lack of interest in the life she had placed in front of him. He tried to make her understand that she was shoving everything down his throat without even giving him the chance to taste it. If she had only done that, he reasoned, maybe everything wouldn’t be as bad. His mother didn’t take it however and promptly insulted him for his lack of gratitude, and further accused him of having no respect for her wishes. It would be years before he made such a move again, and until then, he would continue living in misery, depression, and a weight that was too much for him to carry. Teen Years When he reached the age of fifteen, the ongoing train finally collided, and the wreckage that was left was more than a disaster; it was a message. A message for help! No came to his rescue however, and William had to find new ways to deal with his struggles. He eventually found himself pulled into a new world, a place of freedom that was far from his parent’s grasp and lifestyle; it was everything they hated and it made him appreciate it like nothing before. He began smoking; drinking and attending parties and girls seemed more interesting than they ever had before. This new world turned himself into a new person; that combined the strict nature of his mother, with the charming personality of his father and ultimately turning him into a desirable figure among his peers. Over time, through further changes, he stumbled upon the one thing that made him feel alive; risk and danger. It came in the form of street racing, an act that purely illegal which made him appreciate even more. It became his life! All the while, his parents were completely unaware of the scene their song had placed him in, still believing that he was on the straight path his mother had set for him. They gravely wrong; in his new life, William became a master of secrets and lies. Finding ways to hide every sign of his reckless life, and find alibies for every mysterious disappearance and late nights. It was perfect for a while, as he was doing exactly what his mother wanted while also feeding his own desires. He was leading a double life. He was unmasked however, when he was arrested at the age of seventeen for a case of domestic disturbance; his parents went on vacation for their anniversary, and he took the opportunity to throw the best part of the New Year. It exploded out of control however, and the neighbors, taking notice, called the police. They also called his parents who rushed home early and furious, only to find their son sitting in a jail cell in a state that was simply a disgrace. It would be an insult to say that he was grounded or even stripped of his pride. His parents practically put him on house arrest, pulling him out of school and hiring a tutor. They also seized all of his “inappropriate” items consisting of everything from clothing to music, leaving him with almost nothing of real importance or interest. Everything he owned suddenly had to be approved by his parents. He was then wearing suits, instead of leather, and talking in respectful tones instead of curses. He was also waiting for his ears to bleed as the only music played in the house was classical and nothing on television but the news. It was like having a prison cell in the depths of hell, a fate that almost sounded better than his current situation. It seemed as if the sentence would last forever, though it ended in just under a year, but it was a year of misery, pain and depression, with a handful of learning thrown into the mix. The school work he could handle, but everything else was another matter entirely; it would be a lie to say he didn’t try and escape from the situation more than once, in some manner or another. He could never let himself go through with it though, fearing that everything he was working towards, for himself, would fall to waste. In the end, he finished high school and graduated with high grades and a diploma, the only significant thing he owned. His mother was proud, and for the first time in his life, he felt like she honestly cared. His father however, still carried that hollow look within his eyes and uninterested in his tone; an ironic fact when his career was considered. Still, despite the accomplishment, William felt drained of his life, as if the boy he once was, had died over a year ago, and it seemed, as if he would never return. Adulthood At the age of nineteen, William set out on his own, searching for freedom and the opportunity to finally peruse his own goals. It was weird at first, to say the least, to finally be out of his mother’s grip but he enjoyed it more that was probably considered appropriate; he just couldn’t help it. Still, despite the distance and his freedom, he felt that the only way to ensure that she stayed out of his life was to complete cut her off, so he did. He also cut off his father, though there was obviously no worry for him taking part, but it was for the best, and along with them went their like-minded relatives as well. He had no room for any of them in his life and he was tired of trying to please every single one of the. It was time for a change; it was time to live for him. He stayed with his good friend Derrick for about a year while he worked at a small dinner close by, building up the fund to eventually attend college. The money however, was not enough and he found himself looking for a second job, which he found in his old lifeline; street racing. The only problem however, was his lack of a car but knowing his reputation and his previous participation the group allowed him to use an old model, as long as he paid for any major damage. William agreed and following began working at the dinner during the day and racing at night. His double life had returned and with it, his old self. Over a year later, at the age of twenty, he started college. It was nothing major, or even fancy, but rather a community college; the only thing he could afford. There, he took the required courses, along with a few extras that consisted of writing and art; an ironic twist considering he was following in his father’s footsteps, despite his deep hate for the man. He knew his skills though, and even if they did collide with his “enemy” he relied on them more than anything. It was the only part of him, through the mix of his parents and the scars they caused, that he was proud of and he wasn’t going to take advantage of it. Working two jobs and taking classes at the time same quickly placed another weight, though heavier, on William’s shoulders. This time however, it was by choice instead of force which made it easier to carry than the previous load. The only problem he found, was his lack of a social life, though he had friend at the races, seeing them outside of the “track” was almost impossible. This also kept him from having proper enjoyment in relationships that led him to avoid commitment and take up the one night only policy. His life remained this way, through thick and thin, until the day of his graduation in which everything, for once, seemed to fall into place. He had a degree and with it more opportunities than he could even imagine. However, he didn’t use that knowledge to go into big business or even to start something of his own; he simply kept it in his mind as proof, to himself, that he was capable of something. Instead, he quite the dinner and began working at a bar down town, a calmer environment that added a few extra dollars to his wallet at the end of the week. It was also closer to the small apartment he bought and filled with everything he enjoyed; everything his parents hated and had once upon a time, take away from him. Recent Years It took him thirty-three years, but he is finally living the life he’s always wanted, filled with friends, a great job, and a taste of danger. He now runs the the small bar and grill – the trigger finger, near his apartment and sponsors the street races he has always been so fond of. He almost couldn’t ask for more, and yet, something is missing; love. He never knew why, but he always assumed it was due to his rough, cunning, and reckless nature. He was never going to change however, so he would just have to find someone who could handle the chaos.
